A big hello to you again this week and a huge welcome if you're a new subscriber to Product Funnel Formula.

A big question which is being bandied around lately is -

"How long will the fr.ee stuff last?"

This is a question that many leading experts and business owners are asking. And the answer may be a little surprising.

In recent times, lots of people have come to rely on getting fr.ee information from top experts and smaller entrepreneurs alike, yet - things are changing.

One area that is changing is offering fr.ee teleseminars. In the past, many business owners would hold a fr.ee teleseminar, sharing much of their expertise, tips and resources. They would record the event and pass the link out to everyone who wanted to download the file. 

However, many of them are realising that by giving away their hard earned information for free, it is being undervalued and diluted. There is only so much that we, as business owners who have undertaken extensive training, and grown our expertise to a certain level, can give away. Now, you'll find that there are some of us who won't give it ALL away.

Another area is the fr.ee or low-cost report. There are some people who expect to receive the 'whole shop' in one such report. Can you imagine experts who earn six and seven figure incomes, who charge hundreds or even thousands of dollars an hour for consulting time just giving away email consulting time or one on one time just because someone has bought their short report? It's a bit unrealistic, isn't it?

But, there are some of you who might think this is not fair. And if you're one of these people, you might think everything should be fr.ee. Does that mean your beautician, mechanic, plumber, gardener, hairdresser, dressmaker or anyone who has a specific service shouldn't charge? Can you go into your local Target or David Jones and get goods or services for fr.ee?

So, I want you to take a good hard look at your business practices. Are you giving away too much for fr.ee? Are you selling yourself short?

There are appropriate times to give your information away at no charge such as offering fr.ee reports or audios for list-building, and there are times when you will be sharing your expertise with others 'cheaply'. But make sure these times are a part of your overall business plan, and your strategy with building your product funnel and building your relationship with your subscribers.

Just remember, your expertise will be more valued when you charge the appropriate fee. It's a difficult decision to make, but be firm - you will also feel more valued.

We all have our own unique skill set, and by repurposing what we’ve already done, or what we already know, we’ll have more to offer in the marketplace. People prefer to learn in different ways, and with information products you can offer text, video, audio, or a combination, making your products attractive to a wide range of learners.

The process of breaking it down not only gives you an understanding of your prospect’s specific needs, it can also be very handy in assisting the creation of a fantastic and profitable product funnel.

5. You are also able to reach a wider audience - 

By sharing your expertise as you trade your hours for money, a ceiling is placed over your ability to earn an income.

Think about it. How many clients could you service in a 30-40 hour work week? By shifting your mindset away from this trading hours for dollars, info products will provide you with the vehicle to service any number of people instead.

6. Info products also allow you to increase both communication and marketing opportunities - 

Our ability to expand both of these opportunities to our existing and potential customers becomes so much more valuable as we have more in our toolbox to offer.

7. You also can position yourself as the expert in your niche - 

As you show your expertise, you’ll be able to attract more and a better quality of client. The very fact that you have your own product will lead people automatically to think that you’re an expert. Obviously, you have to have quality in your product. No one will continue buying from you if they aren’t perceiving more value than cost.

You may be worrying that you don’t have any specific expertise, but you can still create successful info products by acting as a resource provider, an interviewer or a reporter, and then make products from other people’s expertise. Even though you’re using information from others, you are the one coordinating and compiling the information, thus making you an expert in your prospect’s eyes as well.
