I don’t like to admit it, but I too experienced all of this first-hand.

A number of years ago, I had an accident which resulted in several fractures to my spine and was forced to quit the corporate world.  As I recovered, I needed to keep my mind active so I started a web based business in which to dabble and learn just some of the strategies to earning an income online.  I was soon ‘hooked’ and it wasn’t long before my hobby became serious as I’d heard about so many others achieving success on the internet.

I spent a large chunk of time, and many, many thousands of dollars setting up the business, continually attended seminars, trainings and kept adding more and more education to my portfolio.

Around about the same time, I set up a coaching practice as I wanted to work for myself, be my own boss, and have flexible hours to work around my physical capabilities.  I authored the book series “How To Find The Goddess In You”, and was fortunate to co-author a delightful inspirational book with such global visionaries as Mark Victor Hansen, Jack Canfield, Dr Wayne Dyer, Brian Tracy and other international entrepreneurs.

To begin with, I was having so much fun, but before long, I ended up becoming almost obsessed, working VERY long hours, working every weekend, and had absolutely no free time to enjoy my family and friends. After a while, I was exhausted, wondering if it was all worth it, and even considered giving it all up.

I loved my clients and I loved the work that I was doing, but I knew I needed to change something so that I don’t have to spend every one of my waking hours working, either with my clients or doing a smorgasbord of marketing and business building strategies.

I suddenly began to notice the existence and value of special reports, audios, e-books and other information products.

The answer suddenly dawned on me!

The only way to create the flexible business that I wanted was to create my own information products.

I made the decision to restructure my business.  I wanted a business model that allowed me to work flexible hours, take weekends off, have lots of time to spend with family and friends, go on holidays when I wanted and most of all work with the clients I chose to work with.

I moved away from the previous ’service-based’ model and instead created a new ‘product-based’ model for my business that included information products.

Things in my life changed.  I got my weekends back and my free time back because I did less one on one coaching, performed more ‘one to many’ group coaching sessions and my information products started to generate an income.
